Pattison started with his home town club, Bedlington Colliery Welfare and moved on to Second Division Hull City. He accumulated forty-eight League appearances as a Right Back in the three seasons he was with the Humbersiders. Normally a Right Back, his only game as a guest with Leeds City in the Wartime Tournament of 1916 was at Outside Left and he was one of the scorers in a 5-2 away win at Lincoln City. He finished his career in Non-League football with Scunthorpe & Lindsey United, and finally Bridlington Town. He died in 1978
