Jameson signed for First Division Sunderland in the 1937-38 season but did not play for the senior team. He moved to Third Division North side Darlington, possibly as an Amateur, the following season but only made one appearance for them, before the onset of the Second World War. Little more is known about Jameson, who only played played twice for Darlington in the 1939-40 season, after the War had commenced, and one game for Leeds United. He made his debut at Centre Forward in the game in the 1943-44 Football League Northern Section (Second Championship) with Middlesbrough at Elland Road in a 3-0 win. It was a scoring debut for Jameson as he scored the second goal. He also played twice for Middlesbrough as a guest in the 1945-46 season. It is not thought that Jameson played professionally in the Football League after World War Two.
