Roberts was selected for England at schoolboy level, but opted to play for Wales, who he qualifies for through his Welsh grandparents. He was discovered whilst playing for Tredworth Tigers in a tournament in Gloucester, where he was noticed by scouts and asked to join West Bromwich Albion. When he reached secondary school, his mother decided to move to Birmingham, so he could pursue his dream. He started his International career with the Welsh Under-Fifteens on 22nd April 2014 in a 2-3 defeat in Belgium, where he started but came off for Robbie Burton in the fifty-third minute. He was capped at Under-Sixteen in a 2-2 draw with Scotland at Park Avenue and scored the first Welsh goal in the fifty-sixth minute. He was capped eight times as an Under-Seventeen, all in the UEFA European Under-Seventeen Championship Qualifiers. The first three were in Belarus as he played a full game in a 0-0 draw with Russia at the Torpedo Stadium in Minsk on 19th October 2014, then, two days later, he came on as a substitute at the start of the second half as he replaced Blake Davies in a 1-2 defeat by Belarus at the City Stadium, Molodechno. Three days later he was back at the Torpedo Stadium for a 2-1 win over Montenegro, all in Group Thirteen. On 23rd March 2015, he played the first of two group A5 UEFA European Under Seventeen qualifiers in Russia at the FC Krasnodar Academy Stadium. He scored in the seventy-eighth minute of a 2-3 defeat by Austria and three days later he was again on the scoresheet as he scored the only goal of the game in the nineteenth minute of a victory over Iceland. He was still young enough to play for the third season in the competition in Croatia and was the captain in all three games in the Group A5 qualifiers. The first was on 16th March 2016 at Stadion Valbruna, Rovinj, in a 2-0 win over the host country, in which he was replaced by Liam Edwards, five minutes into injury time at the end of the game. Two days later at Stadion Veruda, Pula, they went down 0-1 to Portugal and on 21st March 2016, again at the Stadion Valbruna, Rovinj, they were again beaten by Sweden by the same margin. He had already sat on the bench for the Welsh Under-Nineteens at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia as Wales defeated the host nation 3-0 on 12th November 2015 in the 2015 UEFA EURO Under-Nineteen Championship Qualifiers before he made his debut two days later at the same venue and he played seventy minutes before being replaced by Nathan Broadhead in a 0-2 defeat by Austria. Three days later he was at the same venue as the second half substitute for Dylan Thomas as Wales went down to Albania 2-3. His third cap came in a Friendly with Iceland at Dragon Park in Newport on 4th September 2016 and he scored in the sixty-sixth minute in a 1-2 defeat. He was the Captain and played a full game in the three games in the 2016 UEFA EURO Under-Nineteen Championship Qualifiers. The first was on 10th November 2016 at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham in which Wales were defeated by Greece 0-2, but this was soon compensated for by a 3-2 win over England two days later at the Bangor University Stadium and three days later at the same venue Luxembourg were put to the sword by 6-2.
