Â
This was Leeds Unitedâ€s first League game ever and by co-incidence it was against the team that had replaced LeedsCity when they were expelled from the Second Division of the Football League after only eight games of the 1919-20 season.
Â
LeedsCity had ceased to exist and Leeds United had been formed, so instead of the Blue and Old Gold shirts and White shorts favoured by LeedsCity, Captain Jim Baker led out the United team that sported Blue and White striped shirts and White shorts.
Â
It was not to be a triumphant return to the Football League as United were defeated by two goals without reply.
