Elliott first featured as an unused substitute for the Leeds first team against Hull City in January 2007. He made his debut when he came off the bench in the following match against Norwich City. Elliott then signed a new deal with the club and has featured in the first team on several occasions, coming on as a substite against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County in the 2006-07 season before making his run-on debut in the League Cup tie at Macclesfield Town on 14th August 2007. He was named in the England Under-Seventeen squad for the Algarve Tournament in 2007. He was also the first ever Leeds United player to make his senior debut for the Yorkshire club whilst still at school. Elliott has represented England at Under-Sixteen, Seventeen and Eighteen levels. In October 2008 he was included in the Under-Nineteen standby list for the game against Germany. On 26th January 2009, Elliot joined League Two side Macclesfield Town on loan and made four starts and two substitute appearances without scoring before returning on 26th February 2009. He was unable to add to his Leeds appearances in 2008-09 and was loaned out to Bury on 16th September 2009 for three months in an effort to gain more first team experience. He eventually stayed with Bury for the rest of the season, scoring once in sixteen League appearances, of which nine were as a substitute. He also played one game in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy without scoring. On 15th July 2010 he joined Rotherham United on a loan deal until 3rd January 2011. He was beset by injuries whilst at Millmoor and the Rotherham Manager, Ron Moore became frustrated with his ability to pick up an injury and sent him back to Leeds on 24th November 2010 after he had managed four starts and two games from the bench in the League to that point. Leeds released him on 31st January 2011, and at just twenty-one appeared to be on the scrap-heap. He had trials in Scotland and was signed by Hamilton Academicals on 31st January 2011 on a contract until the end of the season. After Hamilton suffered relegation from the Scottish Premier League he was released by the club on 14th May 2011, after one start and six games from the bench in the Scottish League. On 28th June 2011 he was given a trial by Bradford City but was not given a contract. He also spent time with Stockport County on trial, scoring in the 2-0 pre-season win over Altrincham on 6th August 2011 and impressing Didi Hamann enough to give him a deal at Edgeley Park. Elliott headed his first County goal in the 1-1 draw with Kidderminster on 23rf August 2011. He has featured regularly and scored five goals in twenty-two games, seven of which were from the bench, before the middle of December 2011.
