After being offered trials by Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday, he signed for Leeds United from a Doncaster Junior club in September 1948. Although he figured mostly at Centre Forward in United’s Reserve, “A” and Junior teams he made his only senior appearance at home to Swansea Town in September 1949 as an Inside Left. He was farmed out to Scarborough in April 1950, before going to Chester City in August 1950, where he figured mainly as a midfield player, at Wing Half or Inside Forward, scoring nine goals in sixty-one appearances in four seasons, and leaving in June 1954. He later played for Non-League Goole Town and New Brighton. He died in Sheffield in June 1995.
